Vanilla White Lobster - Freshwater Crayfish

White Spectre are a fun variation of the easy to keep procambarus crayfish. It is believed that these were selectively bred from the electric blue lobster variety of the procambarus alleni. Sometimes this breed has been known as a vanilla crayfish or a snowball crayfish.

  For me, I like using darker aquarium substrate for the White Spectre to use give good color contrast in the aquarium. I have been told that many crayfish breeders use white spectre in their breeding efforts to get more white in most "ghost" varieties.

As "White Spectre" is a breed that is consistent on its color, I am showing a typical example of the current size and color. For types that have differing color patterns, I will showing exact photos, which is not needed for this particular breed.
